Rachel completed a Bachelor of Arts and Science at Monash University, majoring in Literary Studies and Zoology, as well as completing her Honours year in Literary Studies in 2014. Her Honours research focused on ecocritical writing and the importance of speculative fiction in broadening our understanding of present-day environmental issues.
Her wildlife interests lie primarily in the fields of evolution and natural history, and her favourite Australian fauna include a variety of macropods, birds and reptiles. She is also interested in the culture and history of Melbourne and Victoria, in particular the history of Victoria's strong connection to its natural environment.
